Flamenco Night - Members Only

We love spontaneous happenings, and next Saturday night (9/15) we’re getting together…just because. We’ll be meeting up at The Spain, our traditional haunt, for sherry, snails and more, then head over to La Nacional for a private flamenco dance lesson and linger on to enjoy two performances. Tickets, paella, duende, included. True Members can use the discount "DUENDE" for 100% off.

We’re teaming up on Saturday, September 15th, to get in the back-to-school spirit with NY-based members and old friends with a night of warm-up drinks, a flamenco lesson, a performance, paella y más!

Saturday, September 15th, 2018

Drinks at The Spain6:15 PM.

Find us nestled into the deep maroon booths and huddled around the bar at The Spain, our unofficial-official bar of choice for a warm-up round of drinks and tapas, sherry or the house special (snails en Burgundy sauce.)

Dance Off at La Nacional, 7:15 PM

After drinks, we’ll head down the block to La Nacional, also home of the Lorca Poetry Center, to meet Jorge, our old friend and master flamenco dancer. Wrapped in the customary gitano scarf, Jorge will lead the group in a private dance lesson, highlighting the finer points of flamenco and the ultimate goal: the achievement of “duende,” the higher, undefinable spirit. (See Lorca’s essay on this magical ideal.)

Flamenco Performance, 8:30 PM

Featuring the best performances in Spain and Latin America, La Nacional is a gem for flamenco aficionados. The first of two performances will begin around 8:30PM. We’ll have a private table reserved for members, where we'll share a paella among our gang. Tapas, other snacks, wine, beer and more will all be available for order a la carte. Guests encouraged and welcome.
