People's Horse Fall Meetup (For Guests)

Join us for our fall People's Horse Meetup, an immersive weekend in the bluegrass full of behind-the-scenes events and experiences at Taylor Made Farm, featuring our very own foal. This package includes an annual membership to our club.

The People’s Horse crew will again descend on Lexington for our third ever meet up and second this year. In June over one hundred of our members joined us in Lexington for a weekend of events that included Churchill Downs, Taylor Made Farm, and Old Friends Farm. This time around, we'll be exploring the iconic Fasig - Tipton Yearling Sale, reuniting with our foal and her mom, Colerful Bride, heading out to Keeneland for the last of the meet, getting into a groove at the spectacle-heavy Thriller Halloween parade, along with other People's Horse traditions and activities.

Fasig-Tipton Yearling Sale

For those who have never been to a major sale, it's a crucial aspect of understanding the world of horsemanship. We'll take a tour of the facility, view many of the yearlings offered for sale, learn about the process that goes into sales prep, and ultimately watch as the horses move through the sales ring. We'll then follow a specific horse for a behind-the scenes look at the process.

Thursday Night

Welcome Drinks!

After the sale, we'll return to the Embassy Suites to reconnect with friends from prior meetups and welcome new members while sharing some light bites and cocktails to kick off the festivities.

Friday October 26th

Hotel Breakfast

We’ll gather for a complimentary breakfast in the hotel lobby (and test the Embassy’s make-your-own omelette station) then board the busses for the first of two horse farm tours at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, KY.

Horse Hangouts

After arriving at Taylor Made we’ll catch up with our favorite grooms and guides and begin our tour. Depending on the number of members who join us, we'll either travel together or break into groups to see Colerful Bride, and everyone's favorite filly. We'll gain insights into the development of our foal, and certainly save time so all members can get a picture.

Food & Drinks at Daddy Joe’s

After the conclusion of the tour we will head over to Daddy Joe’s, the restaurant and bar at Taylor Made, to catch the last of the races at Keeneland on TV and have some food and drink with our friends on the farm. Since it's only a week before Louisville hosts the Breeder's Cup, Daddy Joe's will be decked out in Breeder's Cup-themed decorations and filled with excited patrons.

Friday Night Feast

After we wrap at Daddy Joe's, we'll head back to the Embassy Suites, and prep for a night out at one of our go-to dinner spots around town.

Saturday, October 27th

A Day at the Races - Keeneland!

After breakfast we’ll gather in the hotel lobby and get ready to headout to Keeneland at 11:00am. Weather permitting, we'll begin our day with a friendly tailgate on The Hill. From there we'll make our way to one of the great racetracks anywhere in the world and take our seats in the Grandstand for closing day. We'll have an expert on hand to help with handicapping and hopefully we will all experience the magical thrill of picking a winner!

Saturday Evening - Thriller Parade!

After the races, we'll make our way back to the hotel. With three full days of horse-related activities under our belt, we'll switch it up with a little Michael Jackson. Lexington is home to one of the biggest and most unique halloween celebrations in the country that culminates in a reenactment of the Michael Jackson Thriller video. We'll make our way downtown to witness it first hand, stop in at McCarthy's, one of our favorite haunts, and get into the Halloween spirit. For those wishing to make their own plans for Saturday evening, you are of course welcome to do so.

Sunday, October 28th

Travel Day/Optional events

For those who are traveling back home, we'll say our goodbyes until the next meetup. Depending on the number of folks staying in town or going to Louisville for Breeder's Cup week, we'll head downtown to sample some of what Lexington has to offer.

Lodging

Hotels are notoriously expensive durning the Keeneland meet and therefore we have secured two hotel blocks to lower costs for guests. One is at the Homewood Suites and the other is at the Embassy Suites at Lexington Green. Both hotels are in very close proximity to one another and we’ll be providing transportation to and from the hotel during the weekend.

The Homewood Suites rate is $139/ night while the Embassy Suites rate is $159/ Thursday and $179 for the remainder of the weekend.

You can book your stay in our Embassy Suites block here. For The Homewood Suites, use the code "HRS". *Also note: hotel rooms are not included in our Meetup package price.*

A few notes:

Overall attitude. The People’s Horse is a club that is open, friendly, casual and easy. You won’t need any dinner jackets or shined shoes for this experience, and are welcome to come and go as you please. Want to spend alone time with family and break away? Go for it.

Travel. We have arranged for bus service and transportation the entire weekend at a cost that is factored into the Meetup experience. If you wish to use a car service like Uber or Lyft or taxi for activities outside the itinerary, we support you, but the club cannot cover those costs.

QuestionsDon’t hesitate to ask. Just send us a note at members [at] peopleshorse.com and we’ll get back to you.
